About Me

I have lived in the Boston area for 35 years. I studied at Philadelphia College of art (BFA) as well as courses at the Art Students' League in New York, and privately with Denise Mickilowski.

I have always enjoyed making rhythmic "doodles" with what ever pen happened to be in my hand. What started as convolutions of the brain evolved into rotating dots. Since the advent of 48 color sharpies that include very light value to dark values, I have been experimenting with using them to create representational forms.

I try to do a daily drawing...it is generally a meditation. If representational, I sketch in light pencil the outline (cartoon) of the image; then apply light dots to see the boundaries. Once this is achieved, I create the rhythms that define that forms.

Tha abstractions do not involve drawing. I select colors for harmony and or contrast; start to create random shapes, and then focus on creating negative spaces that are both interesting and draw the image together as a cohesive whole. I never really know what these will look like until I have finished. I really enjoy that element of surprise.

All after tax money collected from these sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Fund to Fnd a Cure  (for breast cancer).
